Richard J. Roddewig

President and Co-Founder of Clarion Associates, Inc.

Richard Roddewig is one of the founders of Clarion Associates and is a nationally recognized real estate analyst and land use attorney with more than 25 years of professional experience. He is a licensed Certified General Real Estate Appraiser in Illinois, Colorado, Wisconsin, Indiana, Georgia and Michigan and a licensed attorney and real estate broker in Illinois. His experience includes assignments in more than 35 states, and preparation of expert testimony in many types of court cases.

Mr. Roddewig holds the MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute and the CRE designation from the Counselors of Real Estate. He has served as past Chair of the American Bar Association Land Use, Planning and Zoning Committee, as well as past Chair of the Midwest Chapter of the Counselors of Real Estate, and past President of the Ely Chapter of Lambda Alpha International.

Much of Mr. Roddewig’s work as a real estate analyst/appraiser involves expert testimony in litigation. He has testified in court cases in Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Minnesota, Illinois, Tennessee, Mississippi, Texas, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania, and given depositions in cases in many other states as well. He has testified in U.S. Tax Court and U.S. Bankruptcy Court cases, as well as in federal district court and state court cases and in many administrative proceedings.

Mr. Roddewig has authored, co-authored or edited eight books, published more than 55 articles and monographs, and taught real estate appraisal and land use law as an adjunct lecturer at a number of universities. He has a Bachelors of Arts degree (Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude) from the University of Notre Dame and a law degree and a master's degree from the University of Chicago.
